Center for Foucauldian Studies, Gender, and History of Subjectivities

The Center for Foucauldian Studies, Gender, and the History of Subjectivities – CEFOS arises from the work that has been carried out for years within the Line of Research “Gender, Subjectivities, and Material Culture”, in the field of History at the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences – IFCH – of the University of Campinas – UNICAMP. Our main objective is to bring together researchers and scholars of Michel Foucault’s work from various areas of knowledge, providing a space for academic discussion and intellectual collaboration, while promoting events and publications of ongoing or completed research. We aim to promote critical examination of themes such as gender, race, sexuality, subjectivity, art, power, biopolitics, governmentality, counter-conducts, among others, which point toward a critique of the present, grounded in the problematizations and conceptual tools developed by Michel Foucault, with a view to understand historical processes and contemporary social, cultural, and political dynamics.
